I paint as a way to express my joy in the world around me.  I am inspired by the light bouncing off a flower petal, glinting off a guitar on stage, or glowing in the face of a life well lived. The act of painting, for me , is the meditation that keeps me grounded and grateful for every moment. My hope is that the viewer will react to that emotion in my work.

Intuition is a major factor in how I paint, the colours I mix and even the subjects I choose. I am always surprised and pleased when things fall into place without really thinking “what next”.

My current direction has stemmed from re-connecting with figure drawing. The success of my blind contour drawings has taken me in a whole new approach to getting my images/subjects on to the canvas. It has loosened me up in a way that I didn’t see coming. I feel I am finding my own voice and style in my work. I am grateful to all of my teachers for helping me get on to this new path.
