I paint as a way to express my joy in the world around me. I am inspired by light: bouncing off a flower petal, glinting off a guitar on stage, or glowing in the face of a life well lived. The act of painting is the meditation that keeps me grounded and grateful for every moment. My hope is that the viewer will react to that emotion in my work.
Intuition is a major factor in how I paint, the colours I mix and even the subjects I choose. I am always pleased when things fall into place.
My current direction has stemmed from re-connecting with charcoal and figure drawing. I have also explored painting with my non-dominant hand. All of these experiences have allowed my style to loosen up and become my signature.
